\nAdrenocorticotropes Hormon (ACTH), auch bekannt als Corticotropin, ist ein Spaltprodukt aus einem gr\u00f6\u00dferen Vorl\u00e4ufer Proopiomelanocortin (POMC). Dieses Peptidhormon mit 39 Aminos\u00e4uren wird im Hypophysenvorderlappen nach Stimulation durch das Corticotropin-Releasing-Hormon aus dem Hypothalamus als Reaktion auf Stress produziert. Es stimuliert die Sekretion von Steroidhormonen, insbesondere Glukokortikoiden in der Nebennierenrinde, indem es \u00fcber einen Zellmembranrezeptor (ACTH-R) wirkt. Bei S\u00e4ugetieren ist die Wirkung von ACTH auf die Bereiche der Nebennierenrinde beschr\u00e4nkt, in denen die Glukokortikoidhormone Cortisol (Hydrocortison) und Corticosteron gebildet werden.
