\n < &> Hormona adrenocorticotr\u00f3pica (ACTH) (1-39), humana es un agonista del receptor de melanocortina.
\n La hormona adrenocorticotr\u00f3pica (ACTH), tambi\u00e9n conocida como corticotropina, es un producto de escisi\u00f3n de un precursor m\u00e1s grande proopiomelanocortina (POMC). Esta hormona pept\u00eddica de 39 amino\u00e1cidos se produce en la gl\u00e1ndula pituitaria anterior al ser estimulada por la hormona liberadora de corticotropina del hipot\u00e1lamo en respuesta al estr\u00e9s. Estimula la secreci\u00f3n de hormonas esteroides, espec\u00edficamente glucocorticoides en la corteza suprarrenal al actuar a trav\u00e9s de un receptor de membrana celular (ACTH-R). En los mam\u00edferos, la acci\u00f3n de la ACTH se limita a aquellas \u00e1reas de la corteza suprarrenal en las que se forman las hormonas glucocorticoides cortisol (hidrocortisona) y corticosterona. ACTH tiene poco control sobre la secreci\u00f3n de aldosterona, la otra hormona esteroide importante de la corteza suprarrenal. <\/p>\n
