Eptifibatide est une sorte d'hexapeptide cyclique synth\u00e9tique compos\u00e9 de 6 acides amin\u00e9s et 1 r\u00e9sidu mercaptopropionyle. Il est capable de se lier \u00e0 la glycoprot\u00e9ine r\u00e9cepteur plaquettaire (GP) IIb\/IIIa des plaquettes humaines et d'inhiber l'agr\u00e9gation plaquettaire, bloquant ainsi la liaison du fibrinog\u00e8ne, du facteur von Willebrand et d'autres ligands adh\u00e9sifs. Il est indiqu\u00e9 pour le traitement du syndrome coronarien aigu (SCA) et coronarien percutan\u00e9 i intervention (PCI). Il est capable de r\u00e9duire le risque d'\u00e9v\u00e9nements cardiaques isch\u00e9miques aigus chez les patients atteints d'angor instable ou d'infection myocardique sans \u00e9l\u00e9vation du segment ST. Il est souvent utilis\u00e9 en association avec de l'aspirine ou du clopidogrel et de l'h\u00e9parine.
