L'ac\u00e9tate de gos\u00e9r\u00e9line, comme l'ac\u00e9tate de leuprolide, est un analogue nonapeptide superagoniste synth\u00e9tique de la GnRH qui poss\u00e8de une plus grande puissance que l'hormone naturelle. Notez qu'il contient D-Ser(But) et NH-NHCONH2 \u00e0 la place de Gly6 et Gly10-NH2, respectivement. C'est-\u00e0-dire que la modification C-terminale a simplement un NH se substituant au CH2 de Gly, et comme le changement C-terminal de l'ac\u00e9tate de leuprolide, cela inhibe la d\u00e9gradation enzymatique du peptide par la postproline carboxyamide peptidase.
\nL'ac\u00e9tate de gos\u00e9r\u00e9line est disponible dans sous la forme d'une petite pastille solide qui est administr\u00e9e comme implant SC pour le traitement palliatif du cancer du sein m\u00e9tastatique avanc\u00e9 chez les femmes pr\u00e9m\u00e9nopaus\u00e9es et p\u00e9rim\u00e9nopaus\u00e9es ou, de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re, comme palliatif dans le cancer avanc\u00e9 de la prostate. La justification de l'utilisation de ce m\u00e9dicament est, comme d\u00e9crit ci-dessus, sa capacit\u00e9 en tant que superagoniste \u00e0 amener les niveaux d'\u0153stradiol ou de testost\u00e9rone \u00e0 des niveaux proches de la castration, ralentissant ainsi la progression du carcinome du sein ou de la prostate, respectivement.
