\n< &>Ormone adrenocorticotropo (ACTH) (1-39), umano \u00e8 un agonista del recettore della melanocortina.
\nL'ormone adrenocorticotropo (ACTH), noto anche come corticotropina, \u00e8 un prodotto di scissione da un precursore pi\u00f9 grande proopiomelanocortina (POMC). Questo ormone di 39 aminoacidi-peptidi \u00e8 prodotto nella ghiandola pituitaria anteriore su stimolazione dall'ormone che rilascia la corticotropina dall'ipotalamo in risposta allo stress. Stimola la secrezione dell'ormone steroideo, in particolare dei glucocorticoidi nella corteccia surrenale, agendo attraverso un recettore della membrana cellulare (ACTH-R). Nei mammiferi, l'azione dell'ACTH \u00e8 limitata a quelle aree della corteccia surrenale in cui si formano gli ormoni glucocorticoidi cortisolo (idrocortisone) e corticosterone. L'ACTH ha scarso controllo sulla secrezione di aldosterone, l'altro importante ormone steroideo dalla corteccia surrenale.<\/p>\n
