Ziconotide (Prialt) is een 25 aminozuur, drie disulfidegebonden peptidetoxineverbinding afgeleid uit het zuiden Pacifische zeeslak Conusmagus. Het is het eerste nieuwe neurotherapeutische middel – N-type calciumkanaalblokker (NCCB). Het werkt selectief op N-type elektrogevoelige Chemicalbook-calciumkanalen in dendritische en axonale terminale takken, waardoor initi\u00eble afferenten van letselstimulans worden geremd. Het is ge\u00efndiceerd voor pati\u00ebnten met ernstige chronische pijn die intrathecale behandeling nodig hebben en die andere pijnstillende behandelingen niet verdragen of een slechte werkzaamheid hebben (bijv. toepassing van systemische analgetica of intrathecale morfine). Ziconotide ( SNX-111; Prialt), ook wel intrathecaal ziconotide (ITZ) genoemd vanwege de toedieningsweg, is een atypisch analgeticum voor de verlichting van ernstige en chronische pijn. Afgeleid van Conus magus, een kegelslak, is het de synthetische vorm van een \u03c9-conotoxine-peptide.[1] Het is 1000 keer zo krachtig als morfine.<\/p>\n
