Desmopressine (merknaam: DDAVP) is een kunstmatige derivaat van vasopressine, vergelijkbaar met het antidiuretisch hormoon (ADH) dat van nature in het lichaam wordt aangemaakt. Het wordt gebruikt voor de behandeling van diabetes insipidus, bedplassen, hemofilie A, de ziekte van von Willebrand en hoge bloedureumspiegels. Het is in staat om de waterdoorlaatbaarheid in de niertubulaire cellen te verhogen, de urineconcentratie verder te verhogen en de urineproductie te verminderen. Daarom kan het worden gebruikt om ernstige dorst, plassen en uitdroging te voorkomen en te beheersen, veroorzaakt door verschillende soorten redenen, waaronder letsel, operaties en bepaalde medische aandoeningen.
